About the plantation
Built in 1791 and was the birthplace of President James Madison, featured on Ghost Hunters Season 9 Episode 21 Titled "Dead Presidents". The grounds have hosted many important people including George Washington, Abraham Lincon, and Marquis de Lafayette and a one time Union Civil War Headquarters. The Plantation is reported to be haunted by several ghosts including a woman in mourning, seen in a Black Dress with a veil seen in the highest window of the Plantation, believed to be a former resident. A ghost of Chatham, an English girl who returns to the Plantation to fulfil a deathbed vow. Reports of a former caretaker who terrorizes the current owner. The majority of the reports are of Union Civil War Soldiers, seen standing guard at the Plantation entry posts, crossing the driveway, walking the Plantation fields and even going in and out of the main house.
