The woods of Rockville, Indiana host one of Indiana’s best haunted hidden gems: the Indiana State Sanatorium. 120,000 square feet of connected buildings sit on the property, ranging from a 1910-1960’s tuberculosis hospital, a 1970’s nursing home & psychiatric facility, all with a very storied history waiting to be explored. Opening its doors on April 1, 1911, the facility began operation as the Indiana State Tuberculosis Hospital. In 1968, 25 years after the invention of streptomycin, the sanatorium & its treatment methods were no longer needed, rendering it obsolete. On October 10, 1974, the former sanatorium went up for sale & was eventually converted into the Lee Alan Bryant Healthcare Facility with plans to house…
